voted for social situations! every time someone asks why i'm not drinking i freeze up. i need a better answer than 'uhh i'm on antibiotics' lol.

i used to say that too haha. eventually i just started saying 'i don't drink' and leaving it at that. no explanation needed. most people don't push it.

that's so simple but i never thought of just... not explaining. ok trying that next time!

I picked boredom/emptiness which feels connected to the identity post I just wrote. When you take away the thing that filled all your time, there's this massive void. Still working on filling it with things that actually matter to me.

totally makes sense rosa. that void is real but it's also an opportunity. you get to choose what goes in there now.

went with cravings. weekends mostly. they're not as bad as they were but they're still there.

the fact that they're getting less intense is a good sign dean. your brain is adjusting. hang in there.

Interesting distribution of responses. From a clinical perspective, these challenges often cluster together – social pressure and boredom can both trigger cravings, and all three can feed into the identity questions Rosa raised earlier. Addressing one often creates positive spillover effects on the others. For those struggling with social situations specifically, rehearsing responses in advance can be remarkably effective at reducing the anxiety around those moments.

i'd say my biggest one now is just complacency. five years in and sometimes i catch myself thinking 'i've got this, i don't need to be careful anymore.' that's when it gets dangerous.

That's a really honest answer, Jake. I appreciate you saying that because I think people assume once you hit a certain milestone you're just fine forever. Good reminder that it's an ongoing thing.

real talk jake. the awareness that it's still something to watch for is exactly what keeps you on track though.
