What matters to you this week? (Weekly thread)

Hey everyone! Borrowing from Dr. Okafor's values work – I thought we could start a weekly thread where we each name one thing that matters to us this week and one small action we'll take toward it. Doesn't have to be big. Mine: connection matters to me, so I'm going to text my sister today. That's it. What about you?

Love this idea! Creativity matters to me this week. My one small action: I'm going to sit with my watercolours for fifteen minutes on Saturday. Not to make anything good, just to make anything at all.

Fifteen minutes with watercolours sounds beautiful! Not to make anything good – just to make anything. That's the perfect approach. Report back!

self-care matters to me this week. my one action: i'm going to cook a proper meal instead of eating cereal for dinner. just one meal. that's my commitment.

A proper meal is a wonderful act of self-care! Doesn't have to be fancy – even eggs on toast counts. The intention behind it is what matters.

connection. going to reply to my brother's text from last week. just one reply.

That's a really meaningful one. One reply to someone who cares about you. Your brother will be glad to hear from you.

This is an excellent application of values-based behavioural activation. By naming the value first and then connecting a specific, achievable action to it, you are creating a bridge between abstract meaning and concrete behaviour. I would encourage this thread to become a regular feature of this community.

Thank you! That's exactly the idea – keeping it simple and connected to something that actually matters. I'll definitely make this a weekly thing!

What a thoughtful thread. Mine would be learning – I want to read one chapter of a book I've been avoiding because concentration has been difficult. Not the whole book. One chapter.

this thread is the best thing i've seen here in a while. it's not asking for transformation. just one small thing. i can do one small thing.
