The 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique actually helped today
Had a rough morning. Woke up with that heavy chest feeling and couldn't focus on anything. Tried the 5-4-3-2-1 thing for the first time properly – five things I could see, four I could touch, three I could hear, two I could smell, one I could taste. Took about three minutes. Didn't fix everything but it brought me back enough to get through my morning routine. Just wanted to share in case anyone else needs a simple tool today.

Grounding techniques like 5-4-3-2-1 work because they redirect attention from internal threat signals to present-moment sensory input. This interrupts the anxiety loop and activates a different neural pathway. Well done for trying it – and for sharing it here.
i do this one too. the touch one is my favourite – i usually grab something cold. the shock of it snaps me out of my head pretty fast.
never tried this properly before. going to give it a go tomorrow morning. do you do it with eyes open or closed?
